There were three AVR members at the first edition of the RunExe 5k Summer series held by the quay in Exwick, Exeter, writes Dave Mutter.
Joel Seward ran a new personal best (PB), taking 27 seconds off his previous best for the distance, finishing in a time of 16:48 which left him 17th out of the 126 who took part.
Two places back was Terry Emmett and he too ran a new PB, with his time being 16:52. This was the first time both runners have run 5km in under 17 minutes and Terry also managed to finish second in the M40+ category. The third AVR on duty at this event was Ron Seward who finished in 22:57 and he too took second in his age category. The next edition of City Runs RunExe 5k Series will be on Tuesday, July 20.
Meanwhile, David Cooke ran the 200m at Yeovil where he again did well to achieve a time of 28:59, a time that places him top of the UK rankings in his age group.
Denise Burges and Gill Day took park in their first running event since lockdown hosted by Winding Paths.
The Summer Trails 7 miles started at Goodrington sands taking them through narrow coastal paths, winding woodlands across Pebbles and sand with plenty of steps thrown in. Both finished with a joint time of 1:37:00.
