The Budleigh bowlers are now two weeks into their indoor bowling and as the normal roll ups start to gain pace the first home friendly fixture against Ottery St Mary has also taken place, writes David Roberts.
Played over two triple rinks it was the home team who took the overall win 37-30. Tony Lim, Melissa Camp and David Tomlinson got off to a slow start, drew level after seven ends and then found some great form to pull away and win their rink 24-15.
Ann Vincent, Tony Mackness and Margaret Avery found themselves nine shots down going into the last four ends and whilst they rallied well scoring seven shots it was just not enough and they lost out 13-15.
The popular weekly Triples League now on a Wednesday morning has again been well supported and starts up this week. With five teams all playing each other throughout the season a big thank you once again to John Dill for organising the competition and for the team managers’ involvement.
The club is looking for a full season of bowling this time round as last season the programme was restricted due to Covid and at this early stage there are encouraging signs as members re-register to play.
We welcome back our Phear Park friends and new members who have recently joined. The Club continues to attract new members so if you fancy playing bowls in a friendly atmosphere please contact either Paul Griffin on 07952784166 or David Roberts on 07887601619. Coaching will be provided.
