Budleigh Under-16s have gone into Lockdown II having suffered defeat in their last three matches.
The oldest of the Robin’s youth teams are managed by Luke Kelsall and his assistant Scott Howarth, together with coaches Darren Fardoe and Max Howard had to undertake something of a rebuilding effort after losing half of last season’s Under-15 squad.
The team began their Exeter & District Youth League campaign with a single goal home win over West Hill thanks to a goal from Alex Bowyer. That win was followed by a 2-0 reversal at Sidmouth Town Junior Vikings, a 3-2 loss at Cullompton Rangers – Lucas Urquiza scored both the Budleigh goals and then the Robin’s U16s were beaten 4-1 at home by Millwey Rise with the lone Budleigh goal scored by Sazid Haque.
What has been apparent in the early season games has been the teams unfortunate tendency to ‘switch off’ and there has also been a lack of communication at times, but there’s been absolutely no lack of effort and no doubt they are all itching to get back into action next month.
The Budleigh Salterton U16 squad comprises of Alex Bowyer, Matthew Brown, Wilfred Bryant, Wesley Connabeare, Tom Del Piccolo, Joseph Duggan, Lewis Evans, Joseph Gosling, Sazid Haque, Carrick Howard, Jake Howarth, Celeb Kelsall, Jake Rowson, Max Ruffell, Zac Shepherd, Kyle Stevens, Lucas Urquiza and Theo Winter. The manager is Luke Kesall and his number two is Scott Howarth while the coaches are Darren Fardoe and Max Howard and the team linesman is Neil Stevens.
