Exmouth RFC – How many miles do the Cockles travel in their 2021/22 league campaign.

Exmouth RFC will travel some 1,862.4 miles to and from matches in their South West Premier campaign.

The travel is spread out across the eight months of the season with the least travelling being the 13.8 mile round-trip they will travel to take on Exeter University, the only journey they make in December while the most travelling in terms of a single month for th Cockles will be the 233.6 miles they will venture in January when they have trips to Old Centralians and then to Royal Wooton Bassett.

The shortest ‘away’ day of the league term for the Cockles is the afore mentioned meeting with Exeter University (Saturday, November 20) while the longest is the 242.2 mile round-trip they will undertake on Saturday, January 22, 2022, to take on Royal Wooton Bassett.

The full month-by-month mileage the Cockles will travel is (shown is the round-trip miles travelled).

September (2 trips): to Launceston (103.4 miles) and  to Old Redcliffians (Brislington, Bristol) (163 miles)

October (2 trips): to Bournemouth (183.4 miles) and to Camborne (108.8 miles)

November (1 trip): to Exeter University (13.8 miles)

December (1 trip): to Ivybridge (80.4 miles)

January (2 trips): to Old Centralians (Gloucester) (125 miles) and to Royal Wooton Bassett (Swindon) (242.2 miles)

February (1 trip): to Brixham (72.4 miles)

March (2 trips): to Drybrook (Gloucestershire) (228.8 miles) and to Weston-super-Mare (127.4 miles)

April (2 trips): to Hornets (134 miles) and to Okehampton (71 miles)

Exmouth Director of Rugby (DOR) Nick Smith says: “It’s a very competitive league again. However, we are looking forward to the challenge and the players are excited get back out on the pitch in front of our supporters.

“Since we have been able to return to training, the coaches have kept things light so far with the emphasis on keeping the players sharp and the sessions enjoyable.

“The training will be ramped up in pre-season and will be ready to face our close neighbours Okehampton in that opening game on September 4.”

Ahead of the new league term, the Cockles  will have a couple of August pre-season friendly matches and we will bring you details of those in due course.

In terms of the other senior sides at the Imperial Ground, both the Cockles 2nd XV and Nomads now await details of their respective 2021/22 season fixture schedules.
