The news that the Joma Devon & Exeter League is set to re-start early next month has pleased Feniton manager James Hiscox.
The Acland Park side led the Joma League Premier East by a distance when the campaign shuddered to a halt as Lockdown III came into play.
News that the league is to resume from Saturday April 2 has been tempered by then fact that not all member clubs will be taking part and tables have been adjusted accordingly.
In the case of Feniton, it means that the Acland Park men will resume their season along with five other clubs which means a completed league term will involve each club playing 10 matches.
Feniton have six to play and, if they go on to lift the Divisional top honour then they will meet the Premier Division West winners to see who can be crowned overall Joma League Premier Champions.
Feniton manager James Hiscox says: “The re-start is just what we had hoped for. We now have some six games to play and then hopefully a play-off final to round things off.
“Of course the league being restarted and without all the previous clubs, which then means an adjustment to the table, is not how we wanted things to be, but it is what it is and we can only face the challenge that is put before us.
“I have made it clear to the lads our task is still very much promotion, we understand that it’s not exactly a Premier Division, certainly not in terms of how we started the 2020/21 league campaign, but we need to make sure we are top and ready for a play-off final then fingers crossed we will be promoted.
“What I would say is this, that, at the end of the day I know our lads are just happy we have some sort of football again to look forward to and the idea of a play-off is a brilliant one as it does give us something to play for and focus on.”
