Budleigh Salterton Football Club are gearing up for a new Scott Richards Solicitors Devon League North & East campaign which begins, for the Greenway Lane men, on Tuesday, August 17 at Topsham Town (6.30pm).
The Robins certainly have a tough start to the new season, playing ten games – nine in the league and one cup tie – all inside the first 43 days of the campaign!
Mind you, it’s very much a case of ‘home comforts’ for the Greenway Lane men for no fewer than seven of the first 10 games are at home and the only trips they make are a short one to Topsham Town for the opening game, a September 4 visit to Exeter to meet University and a September 18 trip to Exminster to take on St Martins.
September is by far the busiest month for the Robins with the team playing seven games – six league and one cup tie – in the month.
Indeed, it works out as a game every four days in September, starting with the September 1home meeting with Alphington and ending with a September 29 home meeting with new boys North Molton Sports.
The big two ‘local derby’ games against Exmouth Town Reserves are set for Greenway Lane on November 6 and then the game at Southern Road, Exmouth, which is set to be the final game of the season, a March 16 meeting.
Three of the first 12 games for Budleigh will see them taking on Alphington. They meet the Exeter-based side on September 1 at Greenway Lane and then take the Alphas on at home again, 10 days later in a cup tie and then travel to Alphington on October 16 for the ‘reverse’ league game.
