Sidmouth Town Football Club junior section are celebrating the news that they are now officially an accredited part of England Football Club.
Bryn Clapp, who is the secretary of the Sidmouth Town Junior Vikings says: “It really is fantastic news and it testament to the hard work that has gone into making this all happen.
“This is a standard that has taken over from what we all used to now as the FA [Football Association] Charter Standard awards, meaning we exceed all of the criteria that the FA require including, minimum coaching levels, stringent Safeguarding and first aid guidelines.”
He continued: “In terms of the coming new season, all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, is now nearly complete and it’s time to start preparations for the season ahead which begins in earnest on September 4.
“Due to our consistent growth we have, for the coming season, been able to register no fewer than 15 teams with the Exeter Youth League and that’s an increase of two teams from last season!
“What it all means in numerical terms is that our membership numbers continue to grow and we now sport over 200 players who will play in teams across the age range of Under-7s to Under-16s.”
He added: “What I am also keen to get across is that, although we are of course, so proud of just where we are at in terms of our on-going growth, we are most certainly not, is a closed shop to further new players and youngsters and so I would say that, if someone is reading this and has a child they would like to see join us, then please get in touch.
“We can be contacted via our club website which can be found at http://sidmouth-town-junior-vikings.co.uk/ and click on club directory to find contact details for the relevant team coaches.”
Meanwhile, the Sidmouth Town Junior Vikings annual free induction sessions will be held on Saturday, August 21 and will be taking place at St John’s School Sidmouth with a start-time of 10.30am.

The last word on this matter goes to Bryn [Clapp] who says: “We are looking forward to what will hopefully be a more settled season than the last two have been and hopefully a little more football for everyone involved.
“We have been so fortunate in recent times to attract some great support in the way of sponsorship, but that’s one area of our being that you can never have enough of! We do have some sponsorship opportunities remaining and anybody who is interested or would like some more information on this can contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
